2014 Ends With a Positive!
Today is the last day of 2014 the 1/2 day stock market has ceased operation, my portfolio ends with a positive of $44.14 rather than -$100+. This is the first time i see that i am actually breaking even and gaining a paper value of $44.14. Of course after deducting the broker fees, tax and stuff.
4414 i wonder whether this number will appear on today's 4D or not :P

Motivated after Reading Fellow Blogger Posts (Regarding Frugality)
After reading the post on Singapore Young Investor post on chit-chat with susurrate saving 19000 he quoted “The rich man isn’t the one who has the most, but rather the one who needs the least.” which left me very impressed and A Singapore Stockmarket Investor post on AK Birthday Wish which he had demonstrated the spirit of frugality by showing contend after celebrating his birthday with his family inside a 'hawker center' which reminds me back of the post: Something About Life which I had experienced before. And I truly take my hat off and show respect to these people.
The sudden fire of passion further lighted up, Along my investment journey of just a mere 4 months, I am constantly learning from so many people around here. I am glad that I started blogging and had link of so many different brilliant people that allows me to follow and learn from.
I have decided to track my expenses and had downloaded an app for myself to start tracking all of my expenses from 1 January 2015 onwards. And see what did I really spend on, whether that is a need or just a want. I know it would be harder since I've just gotten a girlfriend now and there will sure be extra spendings.
This app (by far the top expenses tracking app) that I've found you could go to Googleplay for Android users and search for Expense Manager.
Signing off,
Jeffrey

End of Year Portfolio Review 2014
Getting to receive my last dividend of 2014 amounting to $277 from AIMSAMPS, it sums up my 2014 investments of $50,000 worth capital introduced on August 2014 and subsequently another $10,000 on December 2014. This is a good start as i 'got the ball rolling in the snow mountain' however henceforth, it will be a gradual run from now onwards as most of my savings are already invested to the stocks equity. Although there are paper losses mainly from Ascendas Hospitality Trust and Croesus Retail Trust, the dividends collected had almost make up for it.
2015 will be a fresh year for me to really see how my stock holdings run thoroughly. I hope to inject as much as I can save to the extend that im still feeling comfortable with the living standards. I will do my best to reach my Goals as soon as I can.
Thank you everyone for the kind feedbacks and encouragements since I started blogging.
I'm happy that I've found a new motive in life, and will work hard to achieve it.

Something About Life
Have you ever wondered if there's this one day you became a successful investor, imagine if you have a passive income of $10,000/mth. How would you improve your quality of life? Imagine if you could dine in some fancy restaurant everyday, shopping for branded everyday, go for a reviving spa everyday, drive your luxury car around everyday and enjoying a bottle of top graded red wine every night.
Will you be satisfied?
What I want to share is; What is Your Definition of Being Happy?
I reflected during my day trip to JB last Saturday. 2 of my friends and I went for a scrumptious dinner in this Sin Du Seafood Restaurant. Being a typical Singaporean, we actually ordered about 4 servings of food worth (not forgetting one of my friend is a girl). We spent our money as if we are the rich elites thanks to the recent oil price downturn that is affecting the currency rates, we even can laugh at the bill after converting the exchange rate which is less than 10 SGD per person.
Stulang Area (near The Zon)
Food Porn
Bill that made us laugh
After the dinner, I don't really feel satisfied. It doesn't mean that the food we had wasn't nice, it's just that we had too much of quality food. Then I realised.. sometimes being simple is still better. Wouldn't it be too boring if we kept eating wagyu beef, sharkfins or lobster thermidor every other day or so. Imagine..
The moral of the story is
To be contented with what we have. To invest so much, for me is to reach my goal, first is to help clear my parent's housing loan and another is for me to enjoy more in life. What happens after I've reached my goal? Wouldn't it be goalless then? It's like playing an Role Playing Game, lets take Final Fantasy for instance, you train and level your character and got yourself the best weapons in the game and slayed the final boss with just one hit. After the ending, what's next? In life, we are a main character of RPG, but then there's no end to it, realistically we must always set a goal for us to have the motivation to proceed forward and achieve it.
Let's open up and work towards our goal!
Thank you, you've been a good audience!

SEMBCorp Industries
Utilities - such as energy, water and solid waste management
Marine - involving in construction/upgrading/repairing of ship and jack up rigs
Urban Development - holds office/industrial/residential buildings
They operate not only in Singapore but also China, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Today I'm going to zoom in a tiny portion of daily reads that is going to affect SCI.
Solid waste management
NEA has announced that residents in Ang Mo Kio-Toa Payoh, Hougang-Punggol, Woodlands-Yishun and Tanglin-Bukit Merah will be paying more for waste collection from 1st Jan 2014 onwards.
HDB households currently paying $4.82 - $5.81, will pay a uniform fee of $7.49/mth in time to come. Private households currently paying $17.12 - $19.75, will pay $24.81/mth. Contributes to average rise of 25%.
Why is there such a hike? nobody knows the answer. If you are interested you can see how people complain and swear over the real singapore link over here.
But on a contradict, in view of an investor, we could make use of this slight advantage to gain confidence in SCI as they should be our one and only waste management provider (if i am not wrong). I will be initiating a lot of SCI on next week after receiving my cash back from SCB endowment plan.
Recommendation
I think this is a Christmas Sale for SCI, don't worry about the oil prices because the economy has a self-correcting mechanism. The oil price will rise eventually and usually after a crisis affected industry share price will grow stronger.
Buy now at $4.25 or less. TP is $8.00 in 5 years time. I am confident

My 5 Tips to Save Money
Here are some of the tips that I would like to share and hopefully some of them would be useful for you:
1. Being Simple
Have anyone tried ice cream cafes like 'Udders', 'Scoopz' or 'Ice Cream Chef'? I personally had tried it before a few times to accompany my friend. Spending $5 - $8 to eat an ice cream is considered a luxury for me. Whenever my friend suggest to have ice cream I would try to deviate towards other plan. Not to be rude, but I think that life style is for rich kids and not an average joe like me.
2. Shopping
Daily Products such as toiletries oversea - 1 typical Braun toothbrush could cost $7.50 in local supermarkets but you can get it over there at $2.50 its more than half the price in Batam. Do a shopping and stock everything up enough to last for 6 months!
Supplements - I used to buy fish oil in GNC to lower down my cholesterol level. (Don't be shocked because high cholesterol level doesn't only happen to fatties). After my friend introduce me to website: iherb, I completely stopped visiting local health supplement stores. Take a look and you will understand, there's a whole range of variety of stuff u may need over there. Not to worry because most of the supplements are trusted brand that you may have already heard before. even with shipping fees, it's still so much cheaper than purchasing it in SG.
3. Save money in Singapore, Spend it in Other Countries
Once again, with the high cost of living in Singapore. I wouldn't bear to dine in an Italian Restaurant. Bear with it for awhile.. save that money and spend it elsewhere, go and have scrumptious seafood in Johor Bahru or Batam. That's what you call money that is worth spending.
4. Eat healthy
To prevent yourself from getting sick, eat more fruits and vegetables and drink more water. Consulting a doctor in polyclinic costs $5, together with the drugs it may be $15 - $50 depending on type of illness. Try not to see a doctor if you can. What I meant is that you could just browse the internet and look for home remedy or tips to aid your illness. All you need to do is just type what you want onto Google Search Engine for e.g 'remedy for gastric pain'
5. Force-Save (Last Resort)
For me, I signed an 15 years endowment plan with Prudential 4 years ago to force myself to save $500 every month.
or
You can open another bank savings account and do up a Standing Order to transfer the desired saving amount you want into that no-ATM-card account.
or
Invest monthly desired saving amount into Stocks, STI ETF once you get your pay check immediately.
Above are my 5 cent tips to share. What's yours?
Transaction Made
I've also acquired 5 lots of Cache Log Trust at 6 month low price of $1.15. looking to get a good profit out of it in a long run.

Show Me The Money
I just bought this book 2 days ago and have been reading in my free time. Here are some good principals that have i want to share with u guys in my own expression of words.
1) Do not be fixated on high returns.
We cannot just look at the high yielding dividend and buy a stock. It may not last long. There are other factors to look into.
2) Magic of compounding.
$10,000 invested now could become $500,000 in 30 years time if you let the magic do its work assuming the returns generated is 10 percent and the returns generated are put back into the investment.
The earlier you start, the greater benefits. Its like watching your children grow up with only a one time expense and let time nurture itself.
3) Go with your gut feel, don't just follow the crowd.
Take a look at Apple. A sum of US$10,000 invested in November 2002 in that "fruit company" would have grown to US$750,000 today.
Nobody knows what will happen in the future. I am sure there are many similar companies out there now that have yet to grow to their highest potential. But we dont know which is it.
Think about it... if we can cast aside a small amount to gamble in a basket of young stocks (which you think will make it in the future). Lets take 10 different young stocks, Im sure at least 1 or 2 will succeed in a long run. Like Apple, then your gut feel investment would be a great success.
Thats all for today, im having a hard time typing with my android phone since in on duty currently. Ah yes im in the military.
please bear with my flip flap english as i have really lost touch since i dont practice writing composition everyday. Im sure in time to come, there will be improvement shown.
Bonus question: what is the furthest distance on earth. (See if u can get the correct answer)

Opening Ceremony of My Investment Blog
Hello everyone!
It's an honour to get back to blogging although I had a blog about daily life which i thought it was not so constructive except getting better English through compositions.
Old blog here: www.i-do-i-as-i-please.blogspot.com
Initially when i started investing my role model was Dividend Warrior, then it stopped as he only post usually when he gets a dividend. I am now a daily follower of B in his path towards the 3Fs.
I started investing since August 2014. I'm 27 this year and i know it's never too late to start. In fact some of the investments which I had already made was based on hear-say or just because I want to make myself feel good about ranting to people that i own capital mall and all the different Points (bedok point, compass point etc.) not forgetting I also own Wisma Atria thru Starhill Global.
Oh yeah yeah and my goal or aim from investment is also to have a easy life in the future next time, i'll elaborate further in time to come.
This blog is still under constructions and my way ahead is to put up some classy wallpaper and to make up my page links. it will take a week or so before the whole blog be completely up. Please bear with the simplicity now.
Alright time to fall asleep..!
